Sidepull

Sidepull

Available in all halter rope colors and leadrope colors shown (ask for any custom colors not listed), the sidepull is designed to be either in leu of a bridle or as a stair step between a green horse's early rides in the rope halter / lead and the transition to a snaffle bridle. The halter and sidepull have the exact same feel to the horse as it is nearly the same piece of equipment except that there are 2 attachment points on the sides for the reins so that the pressure is as clear as possible. The leadrope and reins are made from the same type of rope so the feel is the same for both horse and rider.

The 2 knot sidepull is the gentlest option with pressure points on each side of the nose. The 4 knot sidpull has 2 extra knots across the top of the nose for horses who lean into pressure by turning and pulling their head to the side, discouraging the "turn and pull" action. Either option is available at no difference in charge.

A tie loop is included on the bottom of the sidepull so that a leadrope can be attached. A 12' lead can be added to the sidepull for an additional $10 as a compliment to the sidepull.

Tie end on the lead rope is included but eye splice and panic snap can be included for an additional $10.

  • PRODUCT INFO

The sidepull is sized according the the horse's breed and specific head size with rein length according to the horse's neck length. The ideal is for the horse to be able to just reach his nose to the ground while the rider is holding the reins from the saddle without pulling on the horse's face.

Made exclusively of double braid polyester marine line.

Each sidepull will be tied specifically for a certain horse or breed of horse. When you get your sidepull, try it on your horse's head. Be aware that the knots will set within a couple of uses and the sidpull fit will increase in size by an inch or so between major junctures. If there are corrections that need to be made to the fit, take photos of the needed changes and remove the sidepull immediately so that we can adjust the sidepull or talk you through how to do so. Once the knots set, THE FIT CANNOT BE CHANGED.

To lightly clean, simply wipe with a damp cloth. If severely soiled, wash on delicate cycle inside a garment bag or zipped pillowcase on COLD with MINIMAL fabric softener. Hang to dry. CAUTION: too much fabric softener can cause knots to untie or the rope to herniate (the inner core will push through the outer sleeve). Do not wash under any circumstances until knots are fully set.

It is fine for your rope to get wet, dirty, etc.  However, DO NOT allow your horse to chew your rope-- this will cause the rope to herniate (the inner core will come out through the outer sleeve). Also be advised that, while this rope has a breaking strength of 2900 lbs and 5000 lbs, it will not stand up to your dog's attempt to make it a chew toy ;-)

The crownpiece of the sidepull is spliced and burned on the end to join the pieces. However, this juncture can fail if it has unintended or excessive pressure placed on it repeatedly-- the sidepull is not intended to be pulled or hung by the juncture. The juncture is only intended to keep the crown piece lines joined as a unit for ease of tying.

Further, be advised that the sidepull rope has a breaking strength of 2900 lbs and WILL NOT break if your horse pulls back when tied, or anything else of the sort. The lead rope has a breaking strength of 5000 lbs and WILL NOT break if your horse pulls back or you wrap the rope around your arm or your horse tangles himself in the line.

The leadrope attachment should only be used as a compliment while using the sidepull as a riding tool. It is not safe to leave a horse tied by a sidepull with the sidepull reins attached.

We are not responsible for anything that goes sideways while you are using one of these combos;-)
