Horses Needing Placement

Caspian

Caspian's owner has been a long-time student of Progressive Horsemanship

and it shows in the quality of his training.  He came to her as a wild

mustang yearling for the 2008 Extreme Mustang Makeover in Texas.  He was

a very successful competitor and she went on to start him under saddle

in 2010.  Her hard work shows as Caspian hassuccessfully ridden in ACTHA

competitive trail rides and in our local Currahee Saddle Club shows,

bringing home many ribbons.  He has a jog that western judges love and

an easy canter.  He is a master of all Progressive ground work, knows

his canter leads, hindquarters / frontquarters / stops / backs off leg

alone, sidepasses, is beginning collection, works gates, handles all the

typical obstacles, loves to trail ride, and is extremely light and

responsive while still being reasonable.  Where he is lacking is enough

to do.  Caspian loves and needs to have a job, to be challenged and kept

busy-- a more and more difficult thing for his owner who is working, in

college, and engaged to be married soon.  His attitude and outlook are

awesome when he is being ridden and worked frequently, but he gets sour

and mischievous when left to get bored and is not a horse who likes to

be left out in the pasture.

He needs to be ridden and worked minimally once or twice a week and would do great

with more and more to do.  He does need an experienced person who understands boundaries and performance expectations as he will test to see what he "really" needs to do and I would imagine that his level of performance would begin to slide if he were not held accountable. Someone who really wanted to have a working / performance / competitive

trail horse and who understood and was willing to consistently implement least resistance methods, if not Progressive Horsemanship methods specifically, could soar with Caspian.  If you or someone you know might be interested in meeting Cas, seeing his owner work / ride Caspian, or

try him out, please contact us and we'll

set something up.  You would be hard pressed to find a better trained horse for the adoption fee HOH has set at $300, especially considering that lesson time to help Cas and his new owner get on the same page will be offered in this case.

Abednego

Abednego, also known as #0195, is a BLM mustang who came to us in July of 2007 as a 3 year old. He was the biggest test ever of all of our training principles and methods-- we made the grade! He is a great rep for his breed and keeps any who are near him honest. We are excited about his progression and all that we have learned from him. He was placed with a wonderful family here in GA as the fulfillment of a woman's dream to own a mustang but, due to a move, they were unable to keep him. Thus, we are happy to receive him back home and, after an evaluation and a bit of time to settle, he will likely be ready for the next chapter of his life in a new home. Look into the history, plight, and adoption of your own piece of American history! Visit our links page to go to the BLM's Adopt-A-Horse program.

Molly

See our lesson horse page to read more about Molly.  Molly has been a

lesson horse here for some time and is starting to let us know that

she's ready to slow down a bit and have her own person.  Constantly

switching from person to person seems to have begun to be flustering for

her and we'd like to find her a quiet family of her own.  She would be

ideal for light trail riding, a jaunt around the pasture, or leading a

young one around.  Absolutely no fast work, but any pleasure type

activities would be fine.  She is in great physical shape, but

absolutely must be fed senior feed twice a day as her teeth do not

permit her to get much out of hay or grass.  We have her teeth floated

twice a year to keep her comfortable and that's it for special care.

This old girl has given her life in the service of people and, while

she's not ready to quit altogether, she'd like a quieter job in her

final years and deserves a wonderful home for it.  Her adoption fee is

our base donation of $100, a price that doesn't even touch her worth and

we are hoping you will pay HER the balance!
